![]() ![]() And then I get here and I see your logo is obviously based on The Animated Series… GC: Before now my big question was what kind of Batman was this going to be? Was it going to be Murderman from Batman v Superman or something more true to the traditional character. We are, we have to admit, more than a little disappointed, but a chat later with Telltale’s Job Stauffer convinces us that the game does still have plenty of potential, and that Telltale’s storytelling priorities could still make for a classic Batman game.įormats: PlayStation 3, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PC, iOS, and Android This is all punctuated by a lot of clearly very simplistic QTE sequences and sadly unremarkable dialogue. The start of the demo though has Batman foiling a bank heist, easily picking off no-name goons before getting caught up in a rooftop battle with Catwoman – who he seems to be meeting for the first time. For some reason he’s invited crime boss Carmine Falcone along and so much of the dialogue choices involve how you deal with him. In terms of story Telltale are keen to emphasise that you spend as much time as Bruce Wayne as you do Batman, with the latter half of the demo involving a fundraiser for Harvey Dent (the district attorney doomed to become Two-Face). In the scenes we saw all the lighting seemed very flat, with none of the exaggerated use of light and shadow that you might expect from an actual Batman comic. The art style is apparently inspired by comic book artists such as Jim Lee, Greg Capullo, and Neal Adams but it doesn’t really come across as any different to The Wolf Among Us. The animation is a little better than previous games, but the level of detail appears to be the same as ever and there’s still a noticeable pause in the transition between scenes. Although we have to admit that on first glance there seems little obvious improvement. Despite having already worked on properties such as The Walking Dead and Game Of Thrones this is clearly a major release for Telltale and they’re taking it very seriously – with promises of a major upgrade to their aging graphics engine. And we mean a proper Batcave, with a Batcomputer with blinking lights, spooky lighting, and… a row of seats to watch the hands-off demo for Telltale’s new game. ![]()
